Karate Seikukan FNQ serves the Far North Queensland region, including the Atherton Tablelands and Cairns. We are proudly affiliated with Seikukan Wavell Heights, and are dedicated to the practice and preservation of traditional Shotokan Karate.
Our History
Seikukan was founded by Mr. Tainen Takemori, a direct student of Mr. Gichin Funakoshi, the founder of modern Karate-do. Takemori Sensei blended three powerful influences—Karate-do, Chinese martial arts, and Zen—to form the unique foundation of Seikukan.
The name "Seikukan" translates to "Silent Sky Building" or "Training Hall Under the Clear Blue (Cloudless) Sky." This name reflects a core principle derived from Zen: the state of "Mushin," or "no-mind."
